Hey, I’m Samar the voice behind NotThatSamar. I write essays and deep dives on politics, culture, identity, and history, unpacking narratives that don’t always get the attention they deserve. My work blends critical thinking with a candid, often bold perspective on global and social issues especially where power, community, and truth intersect.
I started NotThatSamar for a reason. Too often, Sikh voices and perspectives are controlled, filtered, or quietly pushed aside. The name itself reflects a phrase I’ve heard more times than I can count “Don’t say this… don’t say that… they’re watching.”
This space exists in defiance of that. It’s about saying what others hesitate to thoughtfully, honestly, and without dilution.
Truthfully, I joined this platform because readers and friends pushed me to and they were right. Platforms like this aren’t just about content, they’re about community.
Here, you’re not just supporting a blog you’re backing independent thought, uncomfortable conversations, and analysis that aims to make sense of a complex world.
Welcome and thanks for being here.
